I totally agree, it's one of the best movies of the year. I just bought the blu-ray version of it and plan on watching it again tomorrow night.

Bought it when it was released right before Christmas, and finally watched it last night (since I finally had the house to myself and could crank up the surround sound as it should be!).

I couldn't agree more...what an incredible story, incredible visuals (not just CGI, but the way EVERYTHING was presented), and I thought the lead actor was absolutely perfect casting and acting, you connected with him throughout the entire movie.

How often do you watch a movie with aliens on Earth, and you root for the aliens? Can't think of very many (I was rooting for the FBI in E.T., but that's another story), but found myself screaming along with the main character "Take that!", "You want more of this?", "Is that all you got?"...

Having just bought a new TV back at Christmas, my first big-screen Sony Bravia LCD w/120hz and a new Blu-Ray player, to go with the Dolby Digital surround sound, I was totally immersed in this film, and I can't imagine it looking any more real.

    All I can end with is.....District 10?

Let me throw this in as one last comment on how impressive the movie was to me:

I consider myself a fan of science fiction above all other genres of movies, television and books, and I would quickly say that this movie rates in my Top 10 science fiction movies of all time, and believe me when I say that I must own a hundred sci-fi movies. This is one that's going to have very little dust on the case.

If you love a good story, this movie rocks that.

If you love sci-fi, you're really going to love it.

If you can't handle violence....well, a word of warning to the squeamish.

OK, that's all I have to add

I'm betting "The Hurt Locker" will win Best Picture...just bought it, haven't watched it yet, but with the number of nominations and it's small draw at the box office numbers wise, my bet is that it will get a lot of love from the voters.

"The Hurt Locker" is a pretty good movie, I don't think it is Oscar worthy, but I suppose it really depends on the competition.

I loved district 9 as well, did you notice it was produced by Peter Jackson (LOTR & King Kong)?

It's all really quite simple, more throttle and less brakes.
