Default Nickleback...sucking on a whole new level!

You'll have to pardon me, but I have two small children, and I listen to more than my fair share of Jack's Big Music Show, Laurie Berkner, and the Backyardigans. Consequently, it usually takes me awhile to come around to new music. However, today I decided to turn off the kiddie stuff, switch away from my standard A.M. Sports/Talk radio, and turn on some good ole F.M. Rock and Roll radio. Lo and behold, what's on the airways? Nickleback's new c*ck rock puke fest, "Something in your mouth."

In case you haven't heard this little gem, here's a few lines...

You're rip'n up the dance floor honey
You shake your ass around for everyone
I love the way you dance with anybody
And tease them all by sucking on your thumb
You're so much cooler when you never pull it out
'Cause you look so much cuter with something in your mouth

There really are no words to describe just how absolutely wretched this song is. Seriously, if you like that song, stop drinking the bong water, because that is one of the worst songs I've ever heard in my entire life. I'll be honest, I already hated this band with a vengeance, but I had no idea just how bad they could really be. It's bad enough that they blatantly rip off other, more talented bands, but now they've become so lazy they're just ripping off themselves. Pathetic on an epic scale.

With that being said, I know there is probably someone out there who will read this and be offended. Don't be. If you like Nickleback, it's not a reflection on your personality, but I would check with your parents and check to see if you weren't dropped on your head as a small child or maybe were involved a terrible boating accident.

Nickleback simply is one of the worst bands...ever...and just because their popular doesn't mean they don't suck. Actually, it kinda proves the point, because the world is being overrun with morons.

To be fair, I like sh*tty bands. Just ask Joseph, he's ripping me all the time, usually with good reason. So, I rather consider myself a connoisseur of lame bands, but Nickleback...good god, someone please make it stop. One more insipid piece of crap like "Something in your mouth" and Nickleback will leap to the top of my "Most Hated Band" list.

Just in case you were wondering:

My MOST HATED BANDS and their worst song. (In order)
    1. Jimmy Buffet - "The entire Jimmy Buffet collection"
    2. Meat Loaf - "I won't do that"
    3. Nickleback - "Something in your mouth"

    Unhonorable Mention
Gun's and Roses - Sweet child of mine"

Disclaimer - If anyone is offended by this thread...in my defense I was on my third scotch when I started writing.

    Cheers,
    Troy

hah. nice rant. now on to more pressing issues. laura berkner in a cool-whip bikini! now THAT's hot!

today's music has been kinda bad lately. it seems all the "new" bands can only get radio time by rippin off the older bands. no one seems to come out with their own stuff anymore. and when they do...."something in your mouth" is the result. satellite radio, man. commercial free 80's and classic rock!
    practice, fool!

Completely agree. Nickleback is the most undiverse band ever. Every song sounds exactly the same. While I'm not really offended by the lyrics of this song they are completely stupid and uninspired. It's like they are a bunch of 12 year old boys trying to get attention by being "edgy".

The good thing is a lot of people agree that they suck. I don't know how they are still around.

    Sorry, but this song rocks...

Besides, you're going to jump on a band for their lyrics, or their music?

If lyrics, and especially if it's because you think they're juvenile, I guess Led Zeppelin can be tossed in there, Stones, Kiss and even the Foo Fighters...every band has a song or ten about sex. It's what the slang term Rock and Roll was derived from...having sex in a car!

Now, the music...well, it's certainly a fact that they have a familiar sound that doesn't change much and Nickelback hasn't changed their sound any, but why should they? It's a clean sound with heavy vocals over strong chords, no need to fix what's not broken IMO. But then, KISS, Stones, Zep...doesn't matter if it's 1964 or 1978, their albums had the same sound too.

Anyway, from somone who considers themselves an eclectic music lover all around, I enjoy Nickelback's sound as a great alternative to most of the other crap that's on the radio now.

Just my two cents...and no scotch involved!

It's either really bad or really brilliant. I haven't decided yet.

Hope I didn't offend you Tim! Troy got me all riled up with that rant!

    But, to continue the discussion...

Weren't a lot of those bands songs about sex a little more tactful and ambiguous? I can't think of any examples and I could be wrong about that.

Do you think that Nickleback is going to stand the test of time like Led Zeppelin, The Stones, and Kiss? Yeah, those bands all keep to their respective sound but they are still creative enough to change it up and keep it interesting.

I feel like Nickleback uses the exact same formula every single time. There is something about his voice and uninteresting guitar work (IMO) that just doesn't work for me. Granted, this is based off of hearing maybe 5 or 6 of their songs.
