Default Tim's Moview Reviews for January 8th

With the holidays comes new movies under the tree, and an opportunity to see those that came out in the past year. But if you're like me, going to the movies doesn't happen very often so it's times like this when I finally catch up to the rest of the world and get to see what I've been missing. Here's a few short reviews of what I've seen lately...

    1. Kung-Fu Panda - Yes, it's been out for quite some time, but let me tell you that if you appreciate computer animation, great story-telling, and Jack Black, this is a winner all around. Even if you're not a Jack Black fan, you'll be delighted with the story, and of course the action which is on par for any Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan movie. A definite must-see.

    2. Eagle Eye - I went into this movie not expecting much, sensing a mixture of Live Free or Die Hard and Enemy of the State, and ended up being pleasantly surprised. The story moves at a very quick pace, but the thoughts you're left with after the movie divulges it's entire plot leaves you with plenty to think about. Billy Bob Thornton has some very memorable lines in this movie, so watch his scenes with great care. But if you're an action movie fan, with more mystery than you might be able to tolerate, check this one out!

More movie reviews coming for the following (DVD's I got for Christmas):

    Wall-E
    The Black Knight
    The Omega Man
    Andromeda Strain
    The Hulk

I'll try to do these weekly, as I'm a big fan of movies, especially the classics. So don't expect me to review those crummy re-makes...

Eagle eye was surprisingly pretty good I agree Tim. I watched it at my sister's over Christmas. Though I have to admit, by the halfway point of the movie I had figured out almost what was going on. Have you seen Valkyrie yet?

I have not seen Valkyrie yet, and was very curious being a fan of classic WW2 era movies along with having studied WW2 over the years. The attempt on Hitler's life was never a prominently known thing until recent years, and I'm curious as to how they portrayed Hitler in this film, especially in the eyes of his own men.

Went with Son-In-Law to see remake of Day the Earth Stood Still.

SAVE your money,,, maybe the WORST movie I have ever seen.... and I sat thru 5th Element.

    TOTAL WASTE OF TIME!

The remake of Get Smart was much, much better than I thought it could ever be. Worth the rental.

The original movie, which I keep on my iPod ALL the time, is by far one of the greatest movies ever made in my opinion. When they announced a remake was coming, all I could hope for was that it would be horrible, AND have very little to do with the original movie. I think they succeeded on both accounts.

If it's still in theaters near you and you haven't seen it yet, Quantum of Solace is absolutely fantastic, probably one of the best one's they've done.
