    Default Your Thought`s About Iracing.

: What's everybody`s perspective on it so far? do you like it? Hate it? Could Careless about it? Do you LOVE IT!!???!?!

Ok I love it and ile state why

1, I can race anytime. I don't have to spend a week prepping for a race ect ect. its just jump on and go, and in 30 minutes you are free to go! * i like sprint racing* Me personally, I have always liked to jump in and catch a public server 10 lapper than do a 90 minute schedule league race. no offense to any league, i just prefer to race on the fly. always have

2, Safety Rating System. I love that because. Honestly speaking,I have a Do or Die trick bag that i always manage to use. so with the SR rating, its like an instant slap on the hand anytime I want to pull some dumb Checkered or wreck it move.

3, IRacing in general itself. I don't mind the paid subscriptions. I think it will always insure i have the best content, since the modders are getting paid. at least i hope so. Unlike Rfactor where you have a million wannabe`s and then you have the ILMS mod, and that's it just about the only good mod.
The layout/interface i like .A lot do not like it. but i think its really neat. how everything is all right there in the same program. The Chat and voice servers the forum and the race sign up, real neat in my opinion. Another cool thing is, voice chat in game is linked up to everybody`s speaker output. so if your coming up on a car and you would like warn him, are nicely tell him not to do what he just did. you can tell him.
IRating and Licenses, That is just like how real life racing works, you work your way up from slower cars to fast cars. I think that's just great.

I know most everybody i know from R2P and a few here don't like it, which that is ok, I didn't think i was going to like it as much as i do.
But for me, its everything i could imagine i want all in one.
One guy at R2P was hating on how you can race every 2 hours, how that isn't like real life. How in real life you register and you have 1 chance. I agree with him. but crap what is completely real life about sim racing? lol . I got into some racing to use it as a tool for real life racing, to keep my skills sharp in between event`s. Which it does help me. and to have constant fun enjoying what I love to do. Race!
With being on the same track and car racing a whole week. i think i will learn more about sim racing and car setup. but that's just my assumption. I learn more from the race than i do Practicing, Because im more focused when im being pushed.

    Disclaimer
well I hope I didn't offend anyone, I didn't mean to if I did, but some people read stuff the wrong way than what I meant it .

So guys what do you think? and also do you plan on staying a subscriber to IRacing

I already prepaid for a year to get the discounted price and the extra $15 Iracing credit.
I like it because it is not necessarily sprint races. 50 laps in the Late Model is not what I would consider a sprint but it is not long either. When the tire wear comes more into play it will be even better.
The one thing that has really impressed me is the manner in which customer serivce handles problems. If you see someone cussing another racer out you can take a screenshot, submit a complaint and it will be handled.
I sent a request for a name change and within 2 days it was done. They emailed me before, during and after the process to make sure it was me that wanted the name changed and to make sure it was handled to my satisfaction after the fact. During the first few days of the public invite release they had reps on most of the pre-race chats answering any and all questions. I may be wrong but it appears to be a very well run company.

I really like it as well and I signed up for a year. I like being able to improve your CLASS each season as you work up on your skills and rankings. It's a fun concept. I havent been able to devote as much time to it as I would like so far, but the times I have raced I have been impressed with the competition, and the physics, and tracks are 2nd to none.

yes sir, better not be acting a fool on Iracing. i was in a legends race and some dude was acting out on the mic during the warm up. he said "you F`ing bunch of idiots" man he got jumped on by every one else. they were ticked off, they went HEYY WATCH IT BUDDY! WE DONT WANT That KINDA CRAP ON HERE! and they Threatned to report his Name to Iracing, he shut up realll quick and apologized!

    Off topic to qoute above
Another thing i hav heard people complain about is the lack of a Community. Yea the iracing community is Huge and Far and wide. but im starting to make friends, starting to see the same names ect ect.

I guess I'm on the other side of the fence with iRacing, and here's my thoughts on it:

    1. No community....Champion and leagues like CMS have always been a mainstay for me, and without it, well, it might as well just be a forum anywhere on the net.

    2. I can't race with who I want to....if I jump on at night with David, Philip, Paul and whoever else, and we all go to race at the same time, we might be in the same race, but more than likely we'll be in different races. Sorry, but I want to race with my buddies, not with complete strangers.

    3. No choice over what track to race on, as well as having to race on the same track for a whole week.

    4. Content....the tracks are absolutely incredible, and the cars are also done very well and feel very realistic (I'm guessing, with no real Solstice or Legends car experience), but I'm not all about having to work my butt off to achieve a new license level, then to participate at the next level buy more tracks and cars. I know this mirrors the real world to an extent, but this is sim-racing and they would get more participation from allowing everyone access to all content with purchasing a subscription. Besides, even after buying the cars and tracks, unless your subscription is kept up to date you can't drive them....you could spend $500 on cars and tracks, but if you fail to renew your license you can't drive the cars offline, even though you bought them. That's just wrong.

    5. Last but not least, the incident system. I beta tested for iRacing a couple of years ago, and the thing that annoyed me the most was the incident system. Not because I caused wrecks, or was the victim of accidents, but because it takes the racing out of most guys who are concerned about their incident average to achieve the next level of licensing. I ran a race at Lime Rock with the Solstice and saw two guys with high license levels take each other out in T1 on the first lap, then other guys who were just starting out were very apprehensive to race other guys for fear of contact and getting an incident charged to them. It's not that everyone shouldn't drive cleanly, but fender rubs and accidental contact is sometimes a part of racing. You can rub other cars and not wreck you or them, but iRacing will penalize BOTH of you for it, and that just makes for sterile racing, which resembles open track test sessions more than races.

I subscribed on 6-23, and raced that night in two races, one in each class, and a time trial at Lime Rock in the Solstice...and done nothing since. I will cancel my subscription in the next day or so and unless they change some things about it, I will not be re-joining.

It's unfortunate, because it really has the potential to be the system that everyone wants to race on...but no one will unless leagues can be implemented, and even possibly turning off the incidents for league races and allow everyone the opportunity to race these incredible cars and tracks they have spent so much time and money making.

Hopfully they will do what you said above. I sure hope so at least. I like racing with people I know as well.
I like the incident system. In just about every league I have ever been in there are a few drivers that are going to go to the front no matter how many guys races they ruin along the way. This at least penalizes them if they do this now. I do wish there was a way to only punish the hitter and not the hitee.
I have run quite a few races so far and for the most part it has been really clean racing. There are always going to be a few reckless people though.

I completely agree that if we buy the cars and tracks we should be able to race them offline whether we are subcribed or not.

I realize it is not for everyone and you have some very valid points Tim but I like it so far.

i would hate to see iracing have differnt private leagues, 30+ people in there own corner,

meeting all these new people is very cool.

I kind of view it as pickup racing, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. I remember back in the glory days of GPL just hanging out on VROC all night. More than anything I don't have the time to kill like back then though. And also, VROC was different.

On VROC you could do a race at Spa, then jump in one at Monza, then jump in another one at... Some of the guys would be running their own servers too so they'd just post in chat, "hey, where do you guys want to go race?" And then they'd load it up and off we went. As soon as that one was done it was off to another one.

Besides the lack of league racing with iR though, the one thing I don't like is spec racing. With GPL on VROC all the aliens would take the slug cars and the slow guys would take the quick ones. The aliens still always won but at least it was interesting. With the ILMS mod here there are differences as well. The cars are close to equal but they're not 100% the same.

All in all there are some really positive things about it and things less than positive. The way I see it the deal is set up for guys that like racing every night in basically a pickup environment.
