Oldy but goody. I read on another forum that the guy actually went to some auto parts store and bought lugs before that event and the lugs didnt seat right on the wheel... sad day...
man autox people are wierd.. you hear the dude being all serious, allmost tripping out about the lost lugnuts... what the heck, you got a car sitting on its frame and this man is worried about some lug nuts. talking alll official sounding, i hate that crap.
Autocrossers are weird? Lo, most anyone involved in motorsport is weird Shane. I could write a book! At pretty much any level, competitors, officials, crew, team owners, track management and politicians, it doesn't matter. There are some pretty strange attitudes and actions.
well the autox scene in my area is just way odd. people act just like that dude in that video trippin on a lug nut. they act all professional and serious like were about to go and do some major race, im allways like dude calm down, its just a parking lot full of cones... not the 24 of lemans... its really anoying... they allll have there white tucked in NAtl event t shirt tooked into some short khaki knee shorts. acompanied with a nice set of soccer socks.. and i cant forget the big ole sun hat.
but when i go to the road course events, everybody just seems more man`ly. kinda like SCREW them lug nuts, people are also more friendly.
i clash horribly with the autox group.
LOL that was good,
Shane, you on a uphill battle hehe. Tom is a Autocrosser & Ex-Road Racing Official so he has seen it all. We have seen more than our fair share of WEIRD people over our 15+ years in Road Racing.
This one guy sticks in my mind. His name is Shane Morten. By now Tom is OMG that guy. We had many "WEIRD" experiences with him. Tom should tell you about the time at the Grand Prix of Toronto. (If he wants).
OR maybe all Canadians are weird?![]()

Yes, there are quite a number of road racers, a drag racer and I am sure some autocrossers here too!
Just some pylon's in a parking lot, eh? Well I oughta.......Where's my fish?
I had some success in Road Racing, Solo II (auto slaloms) and Solo I (race track time trials) in Canada of course. I always thought auto slaloms to be the toughest. Imagining the apexes etc among a bunch of cones and not hitting any of them them calls for a lot of precision and you can't do anything to interfere with other competitors. It is like qualifying all the time. Never wore a white hat or shorts. Spent a lot of time under that car you see in the pic. Got so that I could pull the engine and tranny out of her car by myself in less than an hour.
When I was running solo, the cars we built were kick ass race cars licensed for the street. Road Racing wasn't more manly it was more money which explains why I quit road racing and became a pro series official. Getting paid to go to races was more than ok. It was a great time. I managed to penalize some pretty famous drivers along the way. Jimmy Vasser, Paul Tracy and Patrick Carpentier among them.
Ok, I am not going to write my book today. That's it for now.

Thats for sure, Autox is hardd. i liked it,ok i guess. i just cant justify driving 3 hours to the event, for 6 minutes of track time. i rather save my money
and thats cool you threw penalties on those guys HA HA!
