    Lightbulb Arca Sim Racing Updates

    For those of you with ARCA Sim racing you may be interested in this.

    The Sim Factor Team (makers of ARCA Sim racing) have converted to a digital distribution model using a download client. Everyone that originally bought the game on DVD gets a FREE coupon code to use the new client and download updates. Details for converting to the new download client and distribution model are located HERE ....

    I updated my install this week and it was very easy .... Once you are converted to the new client you can delete your old install. They have also already released some more updates to the sim -- see below.


    ASR08 UPDATE 1.01

    PHYSICS CHANGES IN THIS UPDATE:
    1. GLOBAL TIRE UPDATE: This patch encompasses new tire compound data from Hoosier for 2009 at all tracks as well as updates all
    short tracks to Radial Tires and proper compunds per the 2008/2009 competition regulations of the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Tire heat was
    modeled from real data based on slip of the car. New Tire Modeling for below temp, above temp and off pressure values
    2. GLOBAL ENGINE UPDATE: In addition additional engine research was conducted and a completely revised heating pattern has been integrated
    into all race engines to simulate seperate water and oil cooling systems.
    3. GLOBAL SUSPENSION UPDATE: The new suspensions based from 2009 technology advancements and new data have been implemented at all tracks.
    This includes Drop Snout Chassis for flatter Short Tracks, Intermediate Chassis for INT and SW tracks as well as the Road Course Chassis
    for Montreal.
    4. GLOBAL AERO UPDATE: New aero data from 2008/2009 has been added at all tracks. Setups may need to change as you utlize this newer technology.
    5. SLOW STEERING BUG FIXED: Slow speed steering was fixed. Steering lock was liffted as well to allow a slightly higher range.

    EXECUTABLE (EXE) and GAMEDATA BASED CHANGES:
    1. SCORING FIXES: Scoring change to fix freeze field and caution. Read below for proper server PLR file settings.
    Adjust Frozen Order="2.00000" - FOR BEST RESULTS
    MULTI Safety Car Thresh="1.00000" - FOR BEST RESULTS
    2. SESSION NAMES FIXED: Practice 01, Qualifying, Happy Hour and Race
    3. Verbage changes to language file for in-game texts
    4. HAULER CODING ADDED: May not be available at all tracks yet. Most are done or will be in next update.
    Naming should be done as follows. Using the number 06 Toyota as example.
    In the root CAMRY/06 folder place your hauler texture and it would be labeled: 06Plpop.dds
    5. Changed when building new PLAYER file so that default connection rate is set to 256/256 Cable. No one should ever
    adjsut higher or lower then this setting in our opinions. We may remove the ability to adjust at some point.

    TRACK CHANGES:
    1. Texture Changes at Nashville
    2. Re-Grooved Track Surface at Kansas for better racing lines
    HAULERS ADDED:
    A majority of the cars have the proper team hauler which loads in at each track. Any track that doesnt
    have a hauler will be added in next update
    +++++WHATS COMING IN NEXT UPDATE+++++++
    1. Kentucky almost made this update. A race will be held there on 1/27/09 for final testin before release
    2. ARCA Mountain will be added as will Toban and San Jose (These tracks will be available sperately if you want them)
    3. New Jersey may make next update as it also is near completion
    4. Rockingham and Salems physics and possibly some surface work at Rockingham

    PATCH DEOPLY CLIENT V1 FOR 2009
    MIS CHANGES:
    Updated Front Fender Flare Aero Data
    New Tire Modeling for below temp, above temp and off pressure values

    POCONO CHANGES:
    Updated new suspension, physics, aero, tires and engine
    Added T3 Middle Lane Surface and grip values
    Re-Grooved entire surface.
    EXE FIXES:
    - Use Race grid not garage spots for qual. When Private - Start cars in P1 position on Pit Road,
    - When in Lobby a server in a race should be listed as in RACE. Fixed

    New patch released today which also includes Kentucky!!! New Track!

    PHYSICS CHANGES IN THIS UPDATE:

    1. AERO UPDATE: New aero data for body center height at MIS, Kentucky, Kansas, Daytona and Talladega

    2. GLOBAL AERO UPDATE: New Front aero data on NOSE for all tracks.

    TRACK ADDED:

    1. Kentucky Speedway Added

    TRACK CHANGES:

    1. Daytona groove changes and bumping added to low line. New modeled bumping coming in next update.

    2. Rockingham AIW changed

    3. Commonmaps.mas file changed to fix pit light so it stays red until each session has started. This will let you know if you should not go out to qual.
    Red light will turn off when timer starts and session is started.

    CAR CHANGES:

    1. 84 Hauler changed
