Default New Sim on the Horizon...

In the newest issue of AutoSimSport, which was released Saturday, an article revealed the newest project on the horizon that is making waves throughout the sim racing community.

It starts on page 13 of the issue and is a must read....after you've read it, come back here and post your thoughts

    I read it last night...

I dunno... I think it sounds cool, but in reality, I'm not sure it would ever work well. Modders are people that can make 3D versions of existing cars, and tweak an existing physics model. It's one thing to make a model of a car, and it's an entirely different animal to design, and engineer a car. I don't think there are that many mechanical and automotive engineers that are sim-racers or modders.

It sounds intriguing, and if you can get the engineering brainpower interested in the game, then it could work, but 99% of the people are just adept at DRIVING the cars, not engineering them... Does that make sense? I think we'll end up with a whole "stockroom" of rims, paintjobs/skins, and body shapes... and not much new "guts", or really poorly designed "guts". lol

Sounds pretty interesting. I am especially excited that the guy that was involved in the physics model for Richard Burns Rally is behind this ... he did a fabulous job on that sim, some of the best physics I have ever had the chance to race in a PC game. Will be interesting to see how this thing comes along. Did you guys get a feel for the release date or did I miss it? I think it said 2006, I just wasnt sure when ...
